Since my last post 2 updates have arrived from Acer. I have no details of the fixes however things seem to work better now.
Lock now takes around 4-6 minutes if I have not used the GPS for a few days.
I think the original as purchased version was corrupting the Almanac and that’s why it was taking 20-30 mins to lock on location. So if you have not gone online do so the update will be flagged for you to download.
I still wish there was a way of leaving the GPS running so I can swap applications and get a lock within seconds.
Google maps still crashes if you scroll to quick on the Satellite or Maps view. But what a great application! Google Sky is another great application.
If you save locations when offline and then allow a OS update you loose the locations.
Some of the GPS market applications lock up the GPS serial port and a re-boot will fix.
In general I am very pleased with my Acer Iconia Tablet.
