First a correction from yesterdays post. I mentioned the SD 2nd slot. In fact I have since found out that on the A500 it may just be a slot with no connector as it is where the Sim card goes in the W500. It would help if Acer or the manual mentioned this.
Today I installed ‘SipDroid’ from the market. It was easy to set up and I used WiFi to connect to my VOIP provider. It worked 100% on the first call to my domestic wired phone. I left the call connected whilst I tested the audio.
One thing missing is an external Microphone socket so a wired headset can be used. I tried my iPod ear piece with Microphone hoping that the headphone socket may be a 4 wire, no luck. According to the specifications the Bluetooth it has limited functions at present. I was able to pair with my Lenovo notebook audio but only the audio out from the A500 was sent to a headset plugged into the Lenovo. I could not get the Microphone from the headset back to the A500. I have never used Bluetooth before so I just hope they add remote ‘AUDIO IN’ in a future upgrade. This does suggest that I should be able to send Audio out to my in car radio Bluetooth and play back on the car stereo. I will try the car another day.
The ‘SipDroid’ application settings dose present a Bluetooth Button (Experimental).
I do have a Motorola hands free headset but I could not find the device on the A500 or the Netbook so it looks like it’s broken.
