Today I used my Iconia A500 GPS for first time in 4 weeks! I received a fix within 4 minutes. However the Altitude at my location is 262m once the fix occurred it was showing a height ASL of only 20m and this progressively increased for the next 17 minutes to reach 262m. I had fixes from 9 satellites. Not being a GPS expert I can only think it was that the Almanac had to be updated as I had not used the GPS for 4 weeks, although I have never seen this on any of my other GPS’s.
Have you used ‘The Google Market’ recently?
Well if you have not then you may not know it’s been renamed to ‘Play’.
This has caused a minor issue that your Android phone or in this case Acer Iconia A500 has not been able to receive any auto updates. I knew about ‘Play’ but did not realise that until you Tap on ‘The Market Application’ nothing will happen until you do.
So go Tap ‘The Google Market’ it will now ask you to agree with the new use rules and then will change to a ‘Play’ Icon. The auto update check will be kicked off and all the current updates will download and install. Note this is only the ‘Play’ (old market) applications. Nothing to do with Acer updates (hurry up ICS update).
