The days tick by as we all wait for ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) for the Acer Iconia A500. It’s been reported on many other blogs that Acer NZ has announced that it will be available in April. The Acer Iconia A200 received it’s update on 6th March via OTA (Over The Air) so I guess Acer will wait whilst the A200 settles down with the new ICS update so as not to overload the support desk? As users get used to the new interface.
Will the GPS work any better with ICS
As I have reported in the past a lot of the problems such as Google Maps vanishing as you move the map etc. Are not due to any fault with the Tablet or Acer but with Android OS in general so lets hope ICS will be come very stable. I have an Android phone which slows down after a few days and becomes a pain to logon with the finger pad. A quick re-boot fixes this is probably due to lack of memory or a memory leak. The GPS on the phone is more sensitive but still takes 4 mins or longer to lock. Where as my Ham Radio Transceiver with GPS locks within 30 seconds even when its been off for a few days.
If anyone opens up their Iconia and can tell me the GPS chip number I will look up the data sheet and report back.
Oldtimer.
