I have just received the latest update in Australia also the UK received 2 updates.
From one of my commenter’s Paul, he notes that he received 2 updates. Android went from Version 3.2 to 3.2.1 fixing the ‘Local’ issue and now supports DD/MM/YY format in Settings.
Also The Acer version UK update went from Acer_A500_7_006.01_COM_GEN1 to Acer_A500_7_014.14_COM_GEN1
So the UK has after 8 weeks received the same Android Version as I received back in early November.
I also received a new version the Acer_A500_7_011.03_COM_GEN1 [3.1Mbytes] changed to version Acer_A500_7_014.03_COM_GEN1 now this is and earlier version than 014.14 that the UK has issued so am I now behind the UK or do the last 2 digits map to the country.
Wi-Fi appears to be fixed.
The Wi-Fi connection / disconnection loop issue seem to be fixed with the Acer_A500_7_014.03_COM_GEN1.
It seems to connect a lot faster now and I can switch from one network to another and connects very quickly. I have 2 Wi-Fi networks at home and I was having trouble connecting as it would connect to one then drop out and connect to the other and then drop out.
If other readers can post from other countries (USA etc.) what versions they are now up to then I can make a list. Just go to ‘Settings’ scroll to bottom then select ‘About’. You will find 3 entries. Android, Kernel & ACER.
Updates arrive via OTA (Over The Air) and will show up when you power on the Tablet providing you have connected the Wi-Fi.
The last 2 updates install differently from earlier updates. Once you select OK to update now, the Tablet will power down and boot up. If you watch in Top Left of screen a message will appear “Booting Recover Image” whilst loading a Green Android with Gears Rotating will be displayed. Once this finishes the update is applied today’s was very quick but last one ran for a few minutes. NEVER TURN OFF during this process and it’s best to apply external power.
Now where’s that “Ice Cream Sandwich” ……..

I’ve noticed that the two updates I received for my A500 tablet here in the UK have done the following:
Microphone issue with recorder is fixed, the GPS is connecting a lot faster than it was, the GUI appears to be running smoother and the browser also seems to be running smoother and faster.
My WiFi has always worked, even from the other side of our house. I don’t believe I have ever had a problem with WiFi on my A500.
I’m in Canada and just got todays update. My wifi seems to be working better now as well.
Android: 3.2.1
Kernel: 2.6.36.3+
Acer_A500_7.014.14_COM_GEN1
Thank’s Peter & Ozpoppy for your comments.
Yes I did some quick tests with the GPS and I received first fix in 2.5 minutes indoors in window with only 3 satellites in view. The GPS now seems to stay active when switching to another GPS application and then switching back it takes about 10 seconds to lock. It also shows a small window “time to Fix and Time” bottom centre of screen on most of my GPS apps. So I must do some more testing in the garden and report back.
Wi-Fi, have not been able to fault since the updates.
You will see that my second update is one version higher .15 then yours you may find another update next time you power on? It would really help if each update came with “Update History”.
